Village wines represent around 36% of Burgundy wine production. They are produced in the plateau or flat area within the 42 villages in Burgundy. The maximum yield allowed for Village wines is of 50 hectoliters per hectare. They have an ageing potential of 2 to 4 years, some can age longer. Village wines present the characteristics of their terroir marvelously. In the label these wines include the name of the Village and can include the name of the specific vineyard.
